Is it just me who is SO TIRED at the end of August... all that sun, rushing around, holidaying, prepping for new beginnings when term starts next month...! Anyway I was glad to get this link emailed to me from Alisa who is the editor-in-chief at Nestmaven.com - they help their readers with their sleep related challenges (think insomnia, bad sleep hygiene etc.) and give helpful tips for a better sleep. Ideal!
We've had quite a wave of yoga teachers offering to become Yoga Quota Badge holders which means they get to wear the trademarked badge with pride and in return do at least 4 charity classes in their area!
Welcome! We now have someone in Ireland...! So check out the teachers page for your local teacher and support them! It’s been a really wonderful and very exciting Summer here in Oxford, as our first group of Yoga Quota Teacher Trainees have been working hard on our first intake of 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training.
Our summer Semi-Intensive program began at the end of June, and will wrap up next week with our final retreat at a beautiful glamping site in the Cotswolds. It's been amazing to watch our trainees begin their journey, deepening their knowledge of not only their own practice but also the history and traditions of Yoga. I've seen our trainees achieve things they never thought possible (hello, forearm stand!) and have also been completely humbled by their dedication and openness. It's been a true pleasure and honour to teach such deeply ethical, compassionate and enthusiastic students. And an even greater pleasure to be able to be their student as they begin their teaching practice with our Green Vinyasa classes on Friday afternoons. I've been blown away by their creativity and insight, and I've also loved how everyone has come at the training from their own unique perspectives. We never wanted to create 'cookie cutter' teachers, and I've loved that every single trainee has had their own motivations and their own journey throughout the course. Every trainee will also become a Yoga Quota Badgeholder, meaning that we'll be supporting them to teach charity classes in their area. With the retreat coming up over the last weekend in August, I'm looking forward to guiding them through the final module of their training. It's going to be an amazing weekend, bursting at the seams with a balance of practice, theory and teaching. I simply can't wait! It's been an enormous learning experience as their trainer as well, and I've felt my own teaching practice deepen and strengthen. I'm really looking forward to having a few weeks to take all of the learning I've accumulated, fix the typos in the manual (thanks for spotting them everyone!) and prepare to lead another amazing group in September. There'll be a few familiar faces though: one of the things I'm so glad about is that our trainees have been able to utilise our flexible schedule to their advantage to suit their lives. We had a couple of trainees join the summer semi-intensive half way, and more still who will be taking some of the modules in the September stream. This is exactly the experience Anne and I wanted to cultivate when we designed the schedule: a teacher training that works with your life rather than against it! The dates for our January intake and the 2018 Summer Semi-Intensive are now live on our Teacher Training page, so check them out if you're curious about joining in on the fun. Stay tuned for lots of images of our retreat fun in a few weeks! Big love, Harriet |
